The 328 hectare park is located approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Revelstoke at the headwaters of Mabel Lake.
Wap Creek Park was identified for protection as a Goal 2 site in the 2001 Okanagan-Shuswap Land and Resource Management Plan. The site was recommended for protection because of its importance in maintaining wetland and riparian features at the head of Mabel Lake.
Goal 2 sites are those identified and recommended for protection in the Okanagan-Shuswap Land and Resource Management Plan as containing special natural, cultural heritage and recreational features.
BC Parks honours Indigenous Peoples’ connection to the land and respects the importance of their diverse teachings, traditions, and practices within these territories. This park webpage may not adequately represent the full history of this park and the connection of Indigenous Peoples to this land. We are working in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to update our websites so that they better reflect the history and cultures of these special places.
