Visitor attendance data and revenue
BC Parks tracks the number of visitors to parks, revenue received, and park-use permits issued each fiscal year. The data allows us to make informed decisions about our budget and priorities each year. The reports give detailed information, numbers, and trends on these topics.

BC Parks welcomes millions of visitors each year. We track visitation using camping registration, trail and traffic counters, and visual counts. Below is a snapshot of how park visitor numbers have grown over the years. Read the reports above for full details.
Until 2010, BC Parks reported visitor data as part of the BC Parks Year-End Report. This report was then divided into two, the Statistics Report and the Annual Report. The Annual Report was retired in 2017. The Statistics Report has been replaced by the Visitor Use Attendance Report.
Between 2019 and 2023, BC Parks faced significant operational pressures, making collecting, analyzing, and reporting visitor data challenging. Park visitor data is not available from November 2019 to the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year. To learn more, read our blog post, Curious about visitor use data at BC Parks? Look no further.

Visitor satisfaction survey
BC Parks conducts a visitor satisfaction survey to learn about visitors’ experiences. We use this information to find out what is most important to park users, and where we can improve our programs and services.
Due to operational challenges, the survey was not conducted from 2020 to 2022. To learn more, read our blog post, Curious about visitor use data at BC Parks? Look no further.
Highlights of visitor satisfaction survey results from previous years were reported as part of the Annual Report.
Day-use passes
Day-use passes help manage the volume of visitors to some of the province’s most popular park destinations. This program is an important visitor use management tool. It allows us to protect sensitive ecosystems and cultural values while improving visitor experiences.
The following reports outline visitor data, public feedback, and how the program is developing. The data collected helps us improve day-use passes and visitor use management each year.

Licence Plate Program
The BC Parks Licence Plate Program offers special licence plate designs in partnership with ICBC. Funds are used to support important projects through the Park Enhancement Fund.
Find the Licence Plate Program annual project and expense reports on the buy a BC Parks licence plate page.
Park boundary adjustments
The Provincial Protected Area Boundary Adjustments report lists changes to park and protected area boundaries made since 2004. The boundaries of parks are written into law, so adjustments require updates to legislation. The report is updated regularly as legislative changes are completed.
To read the report, and to learn more about how and why boundary adjustments are made, visit the park boundary adjustment guidelines page.
Annual Report
The BC Parks Annual Report provided a bird’s-eye view of all our work from past fiscal years (April to March). The report showcased success stories, key projects, and the great work done by our staff, volunteers, and partners. It also discussed the challenges we faced, and lessons learned.
In these documents, you’ll find profiles and reports from each of BC Parks’ programs. Programs include land acquisition and management, conservation, community engagement, services for visitors, and financial management.
