Get Ready for Parks Day on July 16th!
What is Parks Day?
Parks across Canada are celebrating Parks Day, a national day to recognize the importance of parks and the contributions they make to healthy, happy, and diverse ecosystems. Parks Day occurs on the third Saturday in July (July 16, 2022) and provides Canadians with an opportunity to participate in fun, educational, and family-oriented events at parks and historic sites across the country. We encourage you to spend the day in a park near you and enjoy nature with your family and close friends.
Parks Day was first celebrated in 1990 to celebrate parks in Canada and inspire the public to enjoy and support these spaces. Thirty years later, we still think parks deserve a celebration, and like to inspire all British Columbians to participate in stewardship and recreation across the province.
How to participate?
Add some fun to your outdoor adventure and go on a photo safari or become a citizen scientist. For ideas how to celebrate, download our colouring page or family activities sheet (suitable for ages 8 and up).
Our partners this year include BC Parks Foundation, NatureKids BC, and Power to Be. Visit the links below to see if there will be an in-person event near you!
