You asked. We listened.
A new digital experience is coming to BC Parks this year.
In 2022, BC Parks is on a mission to ensure your experience of parks – from trip planning, to booking a campsite, to contributing to conservation – is just as enjoyable, seamless, and impactful no matter whether you're in a park, on your laptop, or on the road in between. To meet this goal, we're setting out to significantly and continuously improve the services we provide to B.C.'s parks and the people who visit and value them.
Through extensive research with park visitors, and in collaboration with the Exchange Lab (B.C.'s incubator and accelerator for digital government innovations) and some of B.C.'s leading digital companies, we're committing to a better digital experience in 2022 that will help park visitors, park operators and BC Parks staff to better learn about, visit and manage the parks and protected areas system we all care for deeply.
With this this new "beta" version of bcparks.ca, we're just getting started on what will be a continuing, collaborative work in progress – a shared adventure we'd love you to join us on.
Our digital services will be simple, streamlined, and human-centred, with improvements based on a continuing practice of real-world user experience research. If you're interested in being part of improving our services, please sign up.
Everyone is welcome in BC Parks, and we're dedicated to ensuring – aligned with B.C.'s Digital Principles – that our services are equally inclusive, accessible, and built and operated in a way that's open to all.
Through our work to transform BC Parks' services to better meet peoples' needs, we see an opportunity to inspire and empower people inside and outside governments – especially but not only in the technology community – to spark and share innovations to improve park operations, enjoyment, and stewardship.
Visitors have made it clear that while you love your time in BC Parks, the experience of getting there – especially booking a campsite online – has been less than delightful. We’re set to change that in 2022.
